Inventrix
Inventrix is an app for recording what you have and where it is. The starting point is capture first, organise later: get an item in with as few actions as possible, and impose structure only once it is clear what structure you need.
What it does
- Record an item with a photo, a note and a location. The note can be dictated, and the last location used is pre-filled.
- A unique code per item, generated from a template.
{LOC}-{NUM:0000}yields something likeKAS-0042. The template can be overridden per location and has tokens for the location path, the category, the date and the year. Once issued, a code never changes. - A location hierarchy with no depth limit: Attic, Cupboard wall, Shelf 2, Box A. With item counts per level and a delete flow that first asks what should happen to the contents.
- Bulk entry for runs: N identical items with or without a shared photo, and a fast mode that keeps location, template and tags in place.
- Search across notes and codes, filter by location, sort and paginate.
- Documents attached to an item: receipts, warranties, manuals, valuations. An identical file is stored once, however often you attach it.
- Full JSON export and import with a preview, so you can take your data elsewhere.
How it works
Inventrix is a progressive web app written in Rust and compiled to WebAssembly. The data lives in IndexedDB in your own browser. There is no account, no cloud and no tracking. It works offline and installs like a normal app. Light and dark themes, and WCAG 2.1 AA as the baseline.
If you want to sync across devices you can run a server for that yourself. It is optional and off by default.
